About the earth auger

A tungsten-tooth auger bit for drilling clay, sandy soil and ground containing limited gravel. The helical flight carries excavated soil out of the hole; a separate hydraulic auger drive supplies rotation.

Features & benefits

Helical flighting and centre tube
Helical flighting and centre tube
01

Tungsten cutting teeth

The cutting head uses tungsten teeth for the soil and limited-gravel conditions described for this type.

02

Pilot-led drilling

The pilot starts the hole while the surrounding teeth cut the bore.

03

Helical soil removal

The spiral flighting carries loosened soil along the tube during drilling and withdrawal.

Matched hubs and tube sizes

S4, S5 and S6 have different hub arrangements and flight thicknesses; select the corresponding bit and drive.

Cutting teeth and pilots

Typical applications

Ground drilling with an earth auger

  • Clay and sandy groundDrill holes in clay, sandy soil or ground with limited gravel using the appropriate tungsten-tooth head.
  • Fence posts and plantingSelect bore diameter and usable depth for the post footing or planting hole.
  • Mixed ground assessmentIdentify stones and rock before choosing the bit; compare the rock-tooth type where the soil tool is unsuitable.

Installation requirements

Confirm the attachment fits your excavator

Before ordering, send the machine identification and the connection, power and working information relevant to this product.

  1. Drive-to-bit hub

Match round, hexagonal or square shaft size and the retaining connection. The excavator pins are checked at the drive bracket, not on the bit.

  2. Bit length and diameter

Use the selected series dimensions and the drive’s permitted bit size; the largest diameter in the series is not suitable for every drive.

  3. Drive torque and hydraulics

Choose the separate drive using its torque, pressure and flow table. These bit dimensions do not establish hydraulic requirements.

  4. Depth and ground clearance

Check ground conditions, underground services, overhead lifting clearance and the selected extension connection.

Product questions

Earth auger questions

Does the auger bit contain a hydraulic motor?

No. It is the ground-working drill tool; a separate hydraulic drive turns it.

Is the 100–1200 mm range suitable for every machine?

No. Each S4, S5 or S6 column has its own dimensions, and the drive may permit a narrower diameter range.

Can a soil bit be used in every rock formation?

No. The tungsten type is described for clay, sandy soil and limited gravel. Compare an appropriate rock cutting head for harder or stony conditions.

Can I add an extension to reach any depth?

Use a matching extension and check the complete drive, bit and machine arrangement. Length alone does not establish safe drilling depth or lifting clearance.
