Start with the ground
Ordinary soil, gravel and abrasive rock place different demands on a bucket. Describe the material before comparing capacity. A bucket that fills quickly in loose soil is not automatically the right choice for rock.
Compare structure and wear protection
General-purpose buckets serve ordinary earthwork. Heavy-duty and rock layouts add reinforcement suited to their specified duty. Review the actual plates, cutting edges, teeth and wear protection in the product information rather than relying only on the name.
Check the whole installation
Capacity, bucket weight, load density and excavator limits must be considered together. Confirm pin diameter, pin centre distance and mounting width, or the exact quick-coupler interface. Similar excavator weights do not establish the same connection.
Key Points to Compare
| Item | What it describes | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| General-purpose | Ordinary soil and loose material | Digging and loading |
| Heavy-duty | More demanding earthwork | Reinforced digging structure |
| Rock | Rock and abrasive material | Rock-oriented wear protection |
