Hydraulic Information to Check Before Choosing an Attachment

Machine weight is only one part of the selection. Flow, pressure, circuits and the connection also matter.

01

Flow and pressure describe different things

Flow is the amount of oil supplied over time; pressure describes the hydraulic loading. Matching one value does not establish that the complete attachment system is suitable. Use the requirements of the selected model.

02

Identify the required circuits

A breaker, rotating grapple and shear can require different connections and control functions. Include the available auxiliary circuits, return arrangement and any case-drain information specified by the attachment manufacturer.

03

Compare like-for-like specifications

Keep operating ranges, maximum limits and test conditions separate. Include the excavator make and model plus the attachment’s mounting arrangement. The final installation must follow the equipment specifications.
